So I got my new phone. It is an Evo LTE. The battery life is amazing. I am actually typing this using the unified remote app via my desktop. More for spectacle rather than practicality. I recorded an action for occupy the other day and it lasted a good six hours afterwards before i had to put it on a charger. I currently don’t have cable or internet (just a not so tech savvy neighbor with an open wifi connection), so I plan on using it to stream E3 conferences. Makes me sad that it doesn’t have an hdmi port, but that is my only complaint with the phone really. I hear it has some trouble with rooting but I wasn’t going to attempt that for another month or so. Hopefully it will be sorted by then.

My new phone is currently being held by US customs because of possible patent infringements that HTC lost in a lawsuit to Apple. This patent is the ability for the phone to turn phone numbers and email addresses into links to apps that are capable of using them. Something that should clearly not be patented in my opinion, as it is the idea that everyone has the first time they open their email on their new touchscreen device.

Apple is not the only one, but they are definitely one of the worst in the new tech patent wars. They just keep filing frivolous lawsuits to get another month without the competition, or undeserved royalties that only hurt the general public. Apple is trying to form a textbook monopoly and they are able to do it because they are still viewed as the underdog. They control everything that is in/on/around their products and if they don’t they want to. Flash is used all over the internet, and Apple just decides they aren’t going to support it. That is way too much power for a company to have. They are hailed as leaders in innovation, but the only innovation they support is their own. They won’t even allow for third party hardware. They, like many other companies are trying to rig the game.

If you had a good idea you probably stole it from Apple, you thief.

Depression Phase

Luckily for me this just gives me an excuse to catch up on all of my TV and over eat. The phone isn’t really ringing with opportunities to go out though which isn’t helping. I need better friends, but I’m beginning to wonder if that is even a thing that exists anymore.

I’m still making it to work though and might get off the overnights soon. If I don’t I’m going to have to start looking for a new job. I’m not very good at that though, so I’m not looking forward to it. I was unemployed for six months last time. Yay economy…

Season finales are poping up which means summer tv is almost here. Might be a few good ones. I’ll get attached and then they will cancel them on me. Like they did with ‘The Good Guys.’ That show was amazing.

I’m watching ‘The Finder’ until they can get good copies of ’Game of Thrones’ up on the site I use. So far it is better than I thought it would be. I am only ten minutes into the first episode though. Had to take a buffer break, as I’m ‘borrowing’ my internet from my not so security conscious neighbor.

One year I ran out of shows to watch during a depression phase and watched all six seasons of ‘Sex in the City.’ Another time I made a failed attempt to watch Felicity just to get to the final season where J.J. Abrams apparently takes some creative licences in light of its impending cancellation. Let’s hope I get out it before I take my new found love for James Vanderbeek in ‘Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apt 23’ too far and watch a Dawson’s Creek Marathon.

This is more than that. Scientology preys on people that need help and it destroys their lives. It demands much more than a collection plate and sexual freedom. I do not take medication for my ADHD. Some would argue that I should. I was on medication for a short period at the end of high school after I was diagnosed. I did not like the way it operated, and what was worse is that everyone around me saw me get tons better. I was getting my work done and I didn’t get distracted. I didn’t feel like me though. I was getting all this praise on how much better I was doing but I didn’t do anything. In fact I didn’t even feel like I was existing. I was going through the motions and everything felt ok, except it wasn’t. I was in high school, nothing was supposed to feel ok. So I quickly got off of it after much protest from my parents, and have struggled the hard road of maintaining without meds.

That being said. Just because I personally believe that medication is not always the answer, it doesn’t mean that these imbalances don’t exist. It also doesn’t mean that the behaviors it results in are always acceptable or useful. One must self assess oneself with or without a disorder, it just makes it that much harder to do with one.

What pisses me off though is the Church of Scientology and its quest to prey on people who are without guidance or help, just to fund their pyramid scheme on a cross. They set up these front organizations that are operated and run by Scientologists, and use them to indoctrinate people. One they frequently push is their organizations against the psychology and metal health fields and medication. They put out ads that appear to empower people with mental disorders and it convinces people that the mental health industry is this heavy handed entity, when it is quite the opposite. A lot of people can’t actually get the help that they need. There are not enough resources currently available. The lack of funding has resulted in the more severe cases being left on the street.

This is almost as bad as their front to help people with recovering from the trauma they received after leaving a cult. The irony is so thick here it is unbelievable. When dealing with an alternative view organization, always check a search engine to find out if it is a front for a religious organization. It may not always be obvious. Protect yourself.

My name is Trevor.

Keeping this going will be difficult for me. I have ADHD and therefore if I don’t find continued reasoning behind something I will move on to a new activity. This is supposed to pull all of those things together, so hopefully that won’t happen to this blog as well.

I like to learn new things everyday. I watch a lot of TV. I am an activist. I have a full time job. I follow politics. I breathe new technology. I love android. I will talk about all of those things and more here. If you can’t keep up with the varied subjects then this blog is not for you.
